Born in Northwest Arkansas, Dr. Smith was raised and trained in Arkansas through medical school, after which he headed west to Utah for residency in Orthopedic Surgery, and ultimately to California for specialized training in Spine Disorders and Surgery. There he met his life partner, and mother to his children.
He is dedicated to the highest quality of care for his patients, including helping them learn about the causes of their pain and dysfunction, and the various treatments necessary to bring about real functional changes in their lives. He believes in utilizing the least invasive steps to reach patient’s goals of reduction of pain, and improvement of function, but when surgery is required, he is highly experienced in a broad array of techniques performed during spine surgery. Dr. Smith , when not taking care of patients, spends his time with his family swimming, biking, hiking, and camping.
