Dr. Pruitt calls himself a teacher at heart. He enjoys educating his patients about how God designed their body, telling them that if they fully understand their orthopedic problem and take an active role in their recovery it will be more complete. He especially enjoys helping patients—from kids to adults—who have arthritis, shoulder pain, sports injuries, fractures and crippling conditions become active again through arthroscopy, joint replacement surgery and minimally invasive techniques.
A native of Fort Worth, TX, Dr. Pruitt attended Texas A&M University, majoring in history and medical sciences. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, he entered Texas A&M's College of Medicine and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Pruitt came to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, completing an internship and an orthopedic surgery residency.
Dr. Pruitt is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He also is a member of the American Medical Association, the Arkansas Medical Society and the Pulaski Medical Society.
In additional to surgery, Dr. Pruitt uses his hands as an accomplished pianist. His other interests are politics and history. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kimberly, and they have four children.
